The content of your gym bag will directly affect your goals. Items such as clothing, gym accessories, music, and supplements all play an important role in enhancing your performance both mentally and physically. These are the things I recommend and that I keep in my bag. Whether you are training in CrossFit or a traditional workout style, these items will prove to be useful.

Most people find music incredibly motivating, but it has to be your music. Your personal selection will deliver better results than the “Call Me Maybe” crap they play at the gym. Use your phone or an Mp3 player, and pack some headphones.
Getting to the gym everyday is hard enough because we all lack in time. There are so many excuses that we can come up with not to go, that getting there becomes half the battle. Because we are always running behind, it is very important that you have a snack in your bag to eat before you begin your workout.
There is no way you can effectively do a workout if you have not had anything to eat all day. This will help you gain some energy and get the most out of your workout. Make sure your snack is nutritious and has energizing powers, such as a banana.
Resistance training is very popular and shows great results. When utilizing a resistance workout, gloves are essential. Gym gloves will ensure that your hands do not become rough or sore from using the equipment. Who wants to be stuck with callused palms because of their workout? A fresh shirt will be appreciated when you walk out of class to find a text with a brunch invitation or to keep you dry on your walk home after an especially intense or hot workout. Stay on trend with a cropped style if you feel the urge to flaunt it (and why shouldn’t you!)
Timer Or Monitor
Finally, if you want to keep real-time tabs on your progress every step of the way, keep a quality heart rate monitor in your gym bag. You can use this during cardio and lifting sessions to monitor your heartbeat and stay in the desired zone. Some heart rate monitors will even give estimations of total calories burned, so if fat loss is a primary goal, give them a look.
If you like circuits, HIIT training, Tabata, or CrossFit-style (timed) workouts you will want an interval timer. In some cases, timed workouts can be one of the best ways to up the intensity of your training and overcome a plateau.
